An unhealthy relationship is that type of relationship in which at least one of the participants feels uncomfortable. If normal people develop together and reach new heights, then unhealthy love poisons partners. The main problem is that it takes years to realize the dangers of what is happening. We have prepared a list of ways out of unhealthy relationships.
1. Understand that it is Unhealthy
The first thing to understand is whether this is really an unhealthy relationship and whether something else can be changed. It is very simple to determine: do you discuss with your partner what is happening to you – your feelings, fears, etc. Is there any response? If there is no adequate conversation in the relationship, respectively, there is no mutual understanding, then you need to understand that something is wrong.
2. Think about Yourself
Learn to love yourself, letting go of unhealthy relationships. Try to understand that you deserve respect, love, and compassion. There are many reasons why people have an unhealthy relationship, but the common reason is low self-esteem. It makes them think that they deserve nothing better than such a relationship. Perhaps, to change negative thinking about yourself, you will need professional help from an objective third party. So, try to get it.
3. Get the Support of Family and Friends
Fighting difficulties alone is always hard. Don’t shut yourself off from family and friends. Ask them for help and support. Resume communication with old friends, visit your parents more often, and you will not notice how you forget about your experiences. Sometimes it’s better not to wear the mask “everything is fine with me” and honestly tell about your problems. Don’t be afraid to show that you are weak and need support now.
4. Motivate Yourself
It’s easy to say when it comes to addiction to coffee, for example. With love, everything is much more complicated… Imagine what you get on the way out: you will feel liberation, ease, joy, and peace. You will achieve more at work and in creativity because the “disease” will free your consciousness, and you will be able to concentrate. You no longer have to worry, feel miserable, guilty, or angry. You will have new perspectives: for example, you can meet an interesting person or move to another city.
5. Get rid of Painful Memories
Stop indulging in painful memories. Do you still have your photos of you together? Throw them away! Remove from bookmarks links to pages on social networks, add a phone number to the blacklist. Of course, it makes no sense to deny that everything will be easy and simple, but you must be firm in your intentions; otherwise, you will never get rid of your dependence.
6. Release emotions
Don’t lock yourself in trying to seem stronger than you are. If you want to cry, don’t deny yourself this pleasure. Emotions need a way out, so forget about the rules of decency and hang out. But then, feeling empty in the soul, it will be much easier for you to move on.
7. Take the responsibility
Your life, including relationships, is your responsibility. Accept the fact that you create all the situations in your life. Honestly answer the question, what need did you satisfy in these relationships (fear of loneliness, thirst for love, etc.). Set a goal to deal with this. As soon as you change, the world around us is magically transformed. If you want to build a healthy relationship, you first need to “recover” yourself. To be healed of all the injuries of the past, work on yourself. After all, relationships must bring joy!
